Complete documentation for understanding how the SYNTHOS Distributed Immune System works. Choose your path: conceptual overview for operators, or detailed technical specification for developers and auditors.
Learning Paths
Conceptual Overview
For operators, builders, and anyone new to SYNTHOS
Start here to understand the core concepts of the Distributed Immune System. This path explains what immune nodes are, how they work together, what the SYN token does, and how collective threat response operates. No technical background required.
What You'll Learn
- ✓ What the Distributed Immune System is and how it differs from blockchains
- ✓ How immune nodes detect threats and coordinate collective defense
- ✓ How SYN fuel powers the network and what staking actually does
- ✓ How to activate your own immune node and join the collective
- ✓ How governance works and how operators participate in collective decisions

Technical Specification
For developers, auditors, and operators running production nodes
Deep technical reference for implementing immune nodes and core agents. This path covers network architecture, consensus mechanisms, threat detection algorithms, cryptographic standards, message protocols, and governance mechanics. Requires technical background in distributed systems.
What You'll Learn
- ✓ Complete network architecture and peer-to-peer topology design
- ✓ Proof of Immunity consensus mechanism and finality rules
- ✓ Threat detection algorithms and response coordination protocols
- ✓ Message format specifications and cryptographic standards
- ✓ Node lifecycle, synchronization, and state management

Quick Reference
Core Concepts
- → Distributed Immune System: A self-defending network that detects and responds to threats autonomously
- → Immune Nodes: Sovereign operational units that participate in threat detection and collective defense
- → Core Agents: Autonomous software modules that execute protocol operations and detect threats
- → SYN Token: The fuel that powers the immune system through staking and governance
Key Mechanisms
- → Proof of Immunity: Consensus through participation in threat detection and collective defense
- → Threat Detection: Continuous monitoring for anomalies, consensus deviations, and attacks
- → Collective Response: All operators participate in deciding how to address detected threats
- → Cryptographic Silence: All network operations are encrypted and invisible to external observers
Frequently Asked Questions
Is SYNTHOS a blockchain?
No. SYNTHOS is a distributed immune system designed for autonomous defense and threat response. While it uses blockchain-like technology for distributed consensus, it is fundamentally different in architecture and purpose.
Do I need to understand cryptography to operate a node?
No. You can operate an immune node without deep cryptographic knowledge. The protocol handles cryptography automatically. However, understanding the basics helps. The conceptual overview covers what you need to know.
How much does it cost to run a node?
The cost depends on your hardware and internet connection. Minimal setup requires 32 SYN staked (no minimum hardware cost). The conceptual overview explains the economics in more detail.
What happens if I disagree with a collective decision?
You participate in voting alongside all other operators. Decisions are made by consensus (⅔ supermajority for most decisions). If a majority votes for something you disagree with, you can exit by unstaking your SYN.
How do I know the protocol is secure?
The technical specification details all security mechanisms. We recommend independent security audits. The reference implementation is open-source and available for review.
Where do I find the source code?
Reference implementations are published on our GitHub. The technical specification can be used to implement your own client in any language. Links are in the footer of this site.
